About the Media & Growth Team

This seeker-first approach has brought us strong growth; Bandana currently handles on average 50k DAUs and 1M MAUs. Bandana is currently only live in 7 cities (NYC, LA, SF, DC, SD, CHI, and Seattle) and we’re just getting started 🌎 We’ve averaged 30%+ MoM growth for the last 20 months consistently since launching Bandana.com. In the last 12 months, we've grown over 2,000%+ 📈 Most of this growth is organic. We’ve driven hundreds of millions of organic views by creating trusted salary and job content, all made in-house 💪 Growth and user acquisition today primarily occurs via social channels (Instagram, Tik Tok, Reddit, etc.). We have a robust media team that consistently drives viral content to major DMAs on a daily basis.

Duration of Role/Location This is a full-time role on the media team, starting in mid/late October or early November.

About the Role

At Bandana, content creation is not a channel — it’s the engine that powers our mission. In this role, you’ll creating content for specific cities across the U.S. and being the first face that people in the city see and interact with before using our platform. You will also be on the front lines helping to ideate, test, and create new types of content including animation, skits, and documentaries.

We’re looking for the best content creators who can know how to growth a page from zero.

Responsibilities include:

  • Creating Job Videos - Produce quick but quality videos explaining and promoting great job opportunities to be posted across multiple channels.
  • Searching for Job Opportunities - Search through Bandana.com as well as other top employer job boards to find the best and newest job opportunities to share with job seekers on social media.
  • Creating Engaging Social Media Graphics - Create engaging social media graphics of the best job opportunities, apprenticeships, and training, having an emphasis on pay transparency.
  • Manage and Post Content - Schedule and post on all socials in accordance with exceptions and deadlines, respond to interactions, and flag/resolve any account issues
  • Test and Ideating New Distribution Channels - Work with the team to figure out new growth channels including animation, writing skits, and mid-form documentaries.
  • Monitoring Analytics - Views, followers, and clicks to Bandana.com. Learn from shortcomings and keep on track to hit growth goals on your channel.
  • Data Gathering - Searching, finding, and validating salary and payroll data to give viewers the best possible insights on job opportunities. Sometimes this is reading collective bargaining contracts or getting crafty with an Excel spreadsheet.
  • Supporting Productions - Outreach to both top employers and institutions and help to plan in-person shoots where we go to work with amazing people. Provide help during the shoot operating a camera or coordinating talent.
  • Cross Team Collaboration - Coordinate and Collaborate with the Growth Team to enhance virality, gain more insights, and boost great posts into ad content.

Requirements and Skills: This is a hands-on content creator role that requires sharp instincts, grit, and creativity. You’ll thrive if you have:

  • Channel Growth Experience - You did more than just create and support content for a page or channel. You were either a key player or built the page all by yourself from scratch with consistent viral content and tens of thousands of followers.
  • You could have created a personal brand or page about literally anything but understood how to take it viral, make engaging content, and build a strong follower base.
  • Education - Having a Bachelor’s Degree is a great, but we do recognize great talent comes from a variety of educational backgrounds.
  • Great Speaking Skills - You’ll be the face of your channel, and you have experience being in front of the camera and presenting information in a concise and quick manner.
  • Content Creation - Can create a social media video all the way from scripting to shooting to editing the final product. Know your way around a camera as well as post production software like Adobe Premiere and CapCut.
  • Graphic Creation - Channels require engaging graphics and experience with products like Figma is a great plus! We have a lot of great templates but are always looking for new ideas and innovation!

Standout Skills: We’re looking to add creators to the team who bring new skills. We would love if you have one or more strengths in these areas:

  • Skit Writing - Knows how to write witty jokes and short episodes around job related humor.
  • Acting - Strong ability to act in front of camera and be in skit-based content.
  • Graphic Design - More than just an understanding of Figma or Photoshop but the ability to create from scratch new social media graphics that can grab and engage an audience.
  • 2D/3D Animation and Drawing - Whether thats making graphics fly across the screen or creating cute animals to star in short videos about jobs

Interview Process The non-technical interview process typically involves 3 components:

  • Coffee chat: 25-30 min video or phone conversation with Paulo.
  • Take-home Assignment: 1-2 hr assessment that mirrors day-to-day work that you might be assigned to.
  • Interview(s): Review of take-home assessment & personal fit interview with 3 or 4 people. Likely you will need to come into the office for a day of interviews.

Location & Work Policy

Bandana is based in the Williamsburg neighborhood in Brooklyn, NY. We believe in the power of face-to-face, personal connection. As a result, we are only considering in-person candidates that are expected to be present at our office 5x a week.

Pay & Benefits

  • Compensation for this role is $85,000 to $100,000, depending on experience. We cover lunch at work, provide a gym membership stipend, Citi Bike membership, and have a ton of fun activities.
