Cortex is an internal developer portal built to accelerate the path to engineering excellence. Companies like Docker, TripAdvisor, and Brex use Cortex to catalog, score, and assign action to improve service quality and velocity, so devs can get back to work that drives the business forward.
📍Location
We’re fully remote and welcome candidates from anywhere in the US! We have quarterly offsites where we fly the whole team out to meet in person, build stronger relationships, kick off important projects, and have fun!

💼 Job Summary
75% of tech leaders fear displacement from competitors beating them to market—up 20% from pre-pandemic times. To speed development, 85% have moved to a microservice model designed to eliminate development bottlenecks. The only problem? Lack of ownership, standardization, and quality control is now cannibalizing any efficiency gains. We’re looking for someone that understands the gravity of this particular point in our technology timeline, and wants to be at the forefront of helping engineering teams rethink their approach. As Product Marketer at Cortex, you won’t just market a product (though you’ll do that too), you’ll help to reframe a problem, redefine a category, and reshape an industry. You’ll use frequent customer conversations to inform your content and communications strategy, and you’ll lean on our sales and solutions teams for insight just as much as they’ll lean on you for education and advice. You’ll collaborate with product and engineering to bring new features to market, and bring market insights back to these teams for roadmap refinement.

💻 Responsibilities:

  • Bring our messaging to life through thought leadership blogs, product announcements, and webinars
  • Partner with Sales leadership on enablement, certification, and onboarding to ensure our sellers are confident and equipped in the field
  • Use your deep understanding of customer and market needs to prioritize asset requests like one-pagers, decks, and product guides that will make the biggest impact for sellers
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering to manage launch bundles that elevate the Cortex story and properly position our offerings
  • Perform customer interviews for case studies, testimonials, and product research that keeps our customer at the center of everything we do
  • Act as a SME for adjacent teams like field marketing, demand generation, and [eventually] web ops
  • Act as a steward of our brand personality and tone—guiding other members of the Cortex team towards a unified voice in market

✔️ Qualifications:

  • Three to five years experience in B2B and developer product marketing in companies with a strong sales-led motion
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to a variety of audiences. You’re just as comfortable chatting with a VP of Engineering as you are a PR agency when both need to understand, “Why Cortex?”
  • Excellent writing skills with a proven track record of technical and thought leadership copy that converts. Web copy, pitch decks, one-pagers, blogs… you’ve done it all
  • Experience launching new products and features from end-to-end. Packing, positioning, and promotion—you know the best way to drive awareness and adoption
  • Experience in (and exuberance for) sales enablement. Your reps think of you as an expert in their ICP, and you’ve received multiple DMs asking for deal support, or acknowledging the impact of your content and training
  • Excellent organizational skills. You know product marketing can do a lot—but you’re methodical about deciding where you focus your attention
  • We’re also hoping you:
  • Have experience in the internal developer portal market, or with adjacent technologies like infra monitoring and incident management
  • Are driven by curiosity but conscious of the clock. You take the initiative to research, explore, and create conversation—but you also know when it’s time to ship
  • Have a bias for working in the open. You appreciate that there’s no “surprises” in PMM, and that any good work product is the product of collaboration with your partners in sales, product, marketing, and customer success
  • Are self-motivated, but never done learning. You know where you’re strong and where you need to grow. You’re not afraid to ask for help

  • Our job titles may span more than one career level. The base pay for this role is $160,000 to $180,000. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for equity and benefits
