Company Overview: Dune Security’s User Adaptive Risk Management solution proactively prevents insider threats and social engineering by simulating multi-channel attacks, scoring user risk, and adapting training and controls in real time. Powered by AI, we quantify employee risk with comprehensive data and automatically deliver user-adaptive training and intervention. For higher-risk users, our platform integrates seamlessly with the broader security stack to dynamically implement controls. Backed by Toba Capital, Craft Ventures, Alumni Ventures, Firestreak Ventures, and Antler, we empower CISOs to proactively manage human risk—the leading cause of cybersecurity breaches—and build safer, more resilient organizations.

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Sales Engineer with a deep background in cybersecurity and a passion for enabling customer success. This role is ideal for candidates with 4–5 years of experience who thrive at the intersection of technical depth and sales influence, and who are ready to join a high-growth startup where their impact will be felt immediately. As a Sales Engineer at Dune, you will work directly with CISOs, security teams, and technical buyers across enterprise organizations. Your mission: to guide prospects and customers through solution design, technical validation, and onboarding, while serving as a trusted cybersecurity advisor. You'll have deep ownership of the technical sales process, influence the product roadmap, and enjoy significant growth and promotion opportunities within a rapidly scaling company.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Sales & Technical Discovery

  • Lead in-depth technical discovery to uncover customer pain points, integration needs, and success criteria across varied enterprise environments.
  • Deliver highly tailored demos and proof-of-value (POV) engagements that emphasize automation, measurable outcomes, and time-to-value.
  • Confidently articulate and adapt Dune’s capabilities to a broad range of customer tech stacks—including Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Okta, Entra ID, Proofpoint, Abnormal, and custom SOC tools.

Solution Architecture & Custom Configuration

  • Architect bespoke platform configurations that align precisely with each customer’s risk model, infrastructure, and business goals.
  • Implement and troubleshoot integrations across IAM, email security, EDR, and DLP platforms to ensure seamless data flow and automation.
  • Own POV execution end-to-end, ensuring environments are configured to highlight key product differentiators and deliver proof of technical and operational value.

Program Management & Technical Success

  • Manage technical workstreams during pre-sales and onboarding phases, aligning with customer timelines, KPIs, and security outcomes.
  • Track POV performance metrics, drive timely resolution of blockers, and align all stakeholders toward a successful technical win.
  • Translate learnings from customer interactions into repeatable configuration playbooks and implementation best practices.

Customer Partnership & Advocacy

  • Serve as a trusted technical advisor during pre-sales, aligning Dune’s platform capabilities with customer priorities and success criteria.
  • Build strong partnerships with customer stakeholders by demonstrating deep understanding of their risk landscape and aligning solutions to business impact.
  • Collaborate closely with the Solutions Engineering (post-sales) team to ensure seamless handoff, knowledge transfer, and continuity of technical vision after the deal closes.
  • Participate in strategic conversations that set the stage for long-term value, expansion opportunities, and sustained engagement.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 4–5 years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, or Pre-Sales roles, preferably in cybersecurity or enterprise SaaS.
  • Strong knowledge of at least two of the following areas: (1) Security awareness and human risk platforms, (2) IAM and identity security (Okta, Entra ID), (3) Phishing simulation and email threat protection, (4) Cloud ecosystems (Microsoft 365, Google Workspace)
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to engage technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Experience configuring and troubleshooting cloud security integrations and APIs.

Preferred:

  • Scripting or automation familiarity (Python, PowerShell, Zapier, Workato).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, Okta Certified, Microsoft Certified: Security Administrator).
  • Experience supporting enterprise security procurement and RFP processes.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability to operate independently, drive pre-sales initiatives, and contribute as a strategic partner in cross-functional teams.
  • Technical Depth: Strong foundation in cybersecurity and enterprise IT, with the ability to architect solutions, troubleshoot complex integrations, and advise on best practices.
  • Adaptability: Comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced startup environment—able to prioritize, pivot, and deliver outcomes quickly.
  • Passion for Cybersecurity: Genuine interest in solving real-world security challenges, especially those related to human behavior and risk management.
  • Collaborative Spirit: A low-ego, high-impact team player who works closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to advance customer success and company growth.

Additional Details:

  • Location: While NYC-based candidates are strongly preferred, we are open to hybrid or remote arrangements for exceptional applicants based elsewhere in the U.S.
  • Hours: Full time.
