The role

We’re opening our first Eight Sleep-branded retail locations across the U.S. — immersive, design-led spaces where customers can experience the future of sleep technology. To support this exciting expansion, we’re seeking a Retail Operations Manager to lead the operational excellence of our growing retail footprint.

This role will build and manage all operational processes that ensure a seamless, premium, and high-performance retail experience — from store setup and logistics to staff training and customer engagement systems. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across Brand, Retail Experience, Finance, and Supply Chain to bring Eight Sleep’s brand to life in physical environments.

How you’ll contribute

• Retail Operations Leadership: Build and own all operational frameworks for Eight Sleep’s retail stores, ensuring consistent excellence across locations — from staffing and scheduling to inventory management and store performance tracking.

• Store Launch Execution: Partner with cross-functional teams to support new store openings — managing timelines, vendor coordination, merchandising setup, training programs, and operational readiness.

• Experience Consistency: Establish and maintain brand and service standards to deliver a seamless, elevated customer experience. Partner with Retail Experience and Brand teams to ensure every in-store interaction embodies Eight Sleep’s ethos.

• People & Performance Management: Support retail staff onboarding, training, and ongoing performance management to ensure stores operate at world-class standards.

• Inventory, Logistics & Systems: Oversee inventory flow, operational technology, and vendor relationships to ensure stores are fully stocked and efficient.

• Budget & Reporting: Manage store operational budgets and report on key performance metrics. Use data to optimize efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance the customer journey.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the operational hub between Marketing, Product, and CX — ensuring alignment across online and offline touchpoints to create a cohesive brand experience.

Note: Position is based 5 days per week at our NYC HQ in Flatiron, but regular travel to our retail stores will be expected.

What you need to succeed

• 4-6 years of experience in retail operations, preferably within premium or experiential retail environments (consumer tech, luxury, or wellness categories ideal)

• Proven success launching and scaling retail locations or pop-ups across multiple markets (bonus points for being a part of a brand’s first retail launch)

• Strong understanding of store operations, staffing, training, and performance management

• Experience managing vendors, contractors, and retail technology systems

• Analytical and process-driven mindset with strong problem-solving skills

• Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with a bias toward action

• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, startup environment with evolving priorities

• Passion for design, innovation, and health & wellness — and an understanding of how to translate brand values into real-world experiences

Compensation Range: $100K - $120K
