At Fellow, we’re on a mission to give everyone their own AI-powered Chief of Staff and make every meeting count. As our next Engineering Manager, you’ll guide a team of product engineers, refine our processes, and set the technical course while still diving into the codebase when the team needs an extra set of skilled hands. Whether it’s AI-generated summaries, real-time collaboration features, or new integration surfaces, you’ll work on high-impact product areas that shape how teams run meetings every day. If you enjoy balancing practical leadership with occasional coding and want to raise the bar on how teams collaborate, we’d love to hear from you.

Why Fellow?
Fellow is a remote-first, Series A startup backed by Craft Ventures, iNovia, and Felicis. Our founders previously built Fluidware (acquired by SurveyMonkey), and we’re now helping the world’s best teams—from Shopify, HubSpot, and Warner Media, to startups across the globe—make meetings more productive with the power of AI.

Engineering at Fellow

Our engineering team operates with a strong focus on efficiency, collaboration, and high-quality output. We organize work into crisp eight-week cycles that let teams dive deep and deliver meaningful improvements on a predictable cadence. As an Engineering Manager, you’ll keep each cycle on track by clearing blockers, enforcing rigorous testing and code-review standards, and coaching engineers to deliver exceptional production-ready work. Partnering with teammates in product, QA, and design, you’ll orchestrate coordinated, reliable releases that deliver meaningful value to our users.

We believe that fostering a strong team culture is essential for innovation and success. We host regular book clubs centered around technical books, organize lunch-and-learns where team members share knowledge and insights, and hold bi-annual hackathons to build out our boldest ideas. Many of us give back to the community through open-source work, blog posts, and conference talks. As Engineering Manager, you’ll champion this growth mindset: cheering on professional development, creating space for experimentation, and making knowledge-sharing a habit.

About the Role

  • Team Leadership: Lead a high-impact engineering team, nurturing a culture of tight collaboration, fast feedback, and clean code.
  • Technical Guidance: Step in with hands-on guidance when architecture choices get tricky, unblocking the team and keeping designs pragmatic.
  • Delivery Owner: Track scope, surface risks early, and keep work flowing so features hit production on schedule and with confidence.
  • Cross-Functional Partner: Pair daily with Product, Design, and QA to turn rough ideas into polished user experiences that feel seamless end-to-end.
  • Innovation with AI: Encourage rapid experiments with LLMs and emerging AI tooling.
  • Quality Champion: Uphold rigorous review, testing, and release standards so every feature ships with confidence and reliability.
  • Talent Development: Provide clear, actionable feedback and growth plans that help engineers level up quickly.
  • Strategic Planning: Shape technical specs, define success metrics, and align engineering outcomes with Fellow’s product and business goals.

About You

  • Experience: 7+ years shipping production code in fast-moving product teams, with at least 1 year guiding engineers as a lead or manager.
  • Execution-focused mindset: Measure progress in shipped value, favouring small, frequent releases over long cycles.
  • AI Power User: Eager to experiment with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and other AI tools to boost quality and speed.
  • Technical Background: Comfortable jumping between Django and React/TypeScript to push features over the line when the team needs it.
  • Leadership Skills: You clear blockers, give crisp feedback, and rally the team around weekly goals to keep momentum high.
  • Communication: Explain ideas clearly, whether in a Slack thread, design review, or customer doc, so decisions stick and everyone stays aligned.
  • Problem-Solving: Slice big problems into testable pieces, iterate quickly, and adjust when data or priorities shift.
  • Passion for Innovation: Prototype, test, and refine ideas rapidly, always on the lookout for a smarter path to impact.
