Who We Are
At Firestorm, we’re on a mission to revolutionize how defense solutions are designed and delivered. Our goal is to empower U.S. ally nations to effectively deter aggressors — regardless of their defense budget — through innovative, cost-efficient technologies. We call this vision “democratized deterrence.” As a VC-backed company at the intersection of defense and Silicon Valley, we’re pioneering the development of mission-adaptable aerial vehicles that put power back into the hands of operators. By prioritizing operator effectiveness, we’re pioneering a new era of aerial vehicle design. We aim to upend the traditional defense procurement model by delivering world-class capabilities at a fraction of the usual cost. Join us at Firestorm as we redefine defense procurement, making cutting-edge technology accessible to all at a fraction of the cost.
About the Role
We’re seeking a highly capable xCell Technician to support the operation, deployment, and development of the xCell system—a rapid, deployable manufacturing lab used to produce mission-critical components, including modular unmanned aerial systems (MUAS), in forward environments. Reporting to the xCell Technical Program Manager, you’ll be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and deployment of the xCell system to ensure high-quality output in support of both engineering and operational needs. You’ll be part of a hands-on team that keeps the system functional, mobile, and mission-ready across diverse and dynamic conditions.
What You'll Do

  • Assist with the manufacturing, installation, and commissioning of equipment in new xCell builds and deployments.
  • Operate, maintain, and calibrate industrial additive manufacturing (AM) systems such as FDM, SLS, and MJF to produce high-quality, production-class precision parts.
  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on xCell systems and related equipment, including compressors, HVAC, generators, electronics, and robotic manufacturing tools.
  • Inspect parts during and after production to ensure compliance with dimensional, functional, and quality standards.
  • Utilize post-processing tools such as media blasters, drill presses, and hand tools to prepare parts for mission-critical use.
  • Operate robotic manufacturing arms and assist with automated assembly and production processes.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed digital logs, including maintenance records, system performance data, spreadsheets, and technical drawings.
  • Identify and communicate issues that impact production schedules or system performance to leadership promptly.
  • Participate in operational equipment training and adhere to all safety and environmental compliance protocols.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support deployments, field operations, and equipment installations.
  • Follow all safety and environmental compliance protocols
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in additive manufacturing, equipment maintenance, or job shop environments.
  • Proven experience maintaining industrial-grade AM hardware and production tools.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, mechanical systems, and basic diagnostics.
  • Ability to interpret and manage digital files, technical drawings, spreadsheets, and maintenance records.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team, with a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to support and mentor peers.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Attention to detail, safety-conscious, and dependable.
  • Willingness and ability to travel deploy to remote locations.
  • Ability to obtain or maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
  • Experience in high-tech, aerospace, or DoD-related manufacturing environments, including prior work in the military or with spacecraft, aircraft, or related systems.
  • Familiarity with nylon-based powder AM technologies (e.g., SLS, MJF).
  • Experience with expeditionary manufacturing systems or containerized mobile platforms.
  • Prior hands-on experience with kit, model, or experimental aircraft builds or familiarity with aircraft component assemblies.
  • Forklift operation experience or certification.
Additional Requirements
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and work in confined, elevated, or austere conditions.
  • Frequent travel may be required, including international.
  • Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekend work, to meet production or deployment timelines.

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.
Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
