About us

Harmonic is the startup discovery engine.

It pains us to see great startup opportunities consistently go undiscovered. So, we dedicated ourselves to mapping out the startup landscape and building the tools that ensure the most promising founders get found and funded.

The world's largest and most prolific venture capital firms (as well as the up-and-comers you haven’t heard of yet) rely on us to find and invest in the next Google, AirBnB, Uber, Stripe, and Anduril. We play a crucial part in ensuring hundreds of billions of dollars get routed efficiently and that the innovations the world would most benefit from materialize.

We’re growing revenue at a rate of 100%+ annually and already power thousands of investors' workflow. Backed by $30M from investors like Craft, Floodgate, and Sozo Ventures, we want to power the entire investment workflow from discovery to term sheet. If you resonate with our values and want to fundamentally evolve how venture capital markets work, come join us.

About Infrastructure

Infrastructure powers Harmonic's ability to process millions of startup signals in real-time. While Flow builds workflows and Discovery surfaces insights, Infrastructure makes it all fast, reliable, and scalable.

We're at an inflection point. Our frontend serves hundreds of users who run complex queries across millions of companies, build sophisticated searches, and collaborate on deal flow. As we scale, we need to transform our frontend from "it works" to "it works flawlessly."

Our infrastructure priorities:

  • Reliability: Our users depend on us for critical investment decisions. When they are analyzing deals or presenting to partners, nothing can break. We need robust error handling, graceful degradation, and resilient core flows.
  • Performance: Large datasets currently strain our frontend. Views with thousands of rows need to render smoothly. Complex filters need to respond quickly. Data visualizations need to load without blocking the UI.
  • Enabling developers: Once we’ve nailed reliability and performance, the right infra multiplies our team’s impact. Better abstractions and clearer patterns let engineers ship with confidence.

The role

In this role, you will:

  • Fix core reliability issues: error boundaries, state management, data consistency.
  • Optimize performance: virtualization for large datasets, bundle optimization, render performance.
  • Build monitoring and observability to catch issues before users do.
  • Establish testing strategies that prevent regressions.
  • Create abstractions and patterns that help engineers ship faster without breaking things.
  • Drive technical decisions and mentor the team through complex migrations.

Background we’re looking for:

  • 7+ years building frontend applications at scale.
  • Deep expertise in React, TypeScript, and modern build tooling.
  • Track record of fixing production performance issues at scale.
  • Strong opinions on frontend architecture, backed by experience.
  • NYC-based, in office 3 days/week.

Background we’d be particularly excited about:

  • Experience with discovery systems, search use cases, recommendation systems (CRM, ATS, etc.), or anything that helps index, document, and make data available for use.
  • Exposure to venture capital, private markets, or company intelligence data.
