The Role
Our company is seeking a Director of Corporate Development to lead and execute our M&A function. This role will be responsible for the entire corporate development process, from identifying potential targets and cultivating relationships to conducting due diligence, negotiating deals, and overseeing integration post-acquisition. As the Director, you will bring extensive industry knowledge to identify profitable opportunities and shepherd negotiations to achieve mutually beneficial terms and meet organizational objectives. This role can be located anywhere in the United States or Canada.
Responsibilities
- Work with the founders to establish an M&A function
- Help build Inspira’s M&A deal pipeline and support the execution of corporate initiatives on behalf of the executive leadership team and Board of Directors
- Develop deep domain knowledge of audience, market, and competitive dynamics and trends to inform, identify, and source strategic partnerships and acquisition targets
- Support the expansion of existing and new growth pillars, including delivering robust analytical assessments of existing business lines and optimal market entry options for new business segments, including consumer segments
- Generate business cases using third-party market research or internally generated research, along with developing well-thought-out key assumptions and scenarios
- Prepare transaction closing statements and coordinate with the founders and the finance team
- Identify and build relationships with third-party service providers such as accounting firms and law firms supporting Inspira through the deal execution process
- Lead valuation and deal structuring and project manage the due diligence, closing, and post-close integration processes. Craft the models and information materials required to achieve the support and alignment of all our internal and external stakeholders
- Lead the financial modeling and structuring of acquisitions and supporting our overall long-range strategic planning processes
- Manage a business development associate and coordinate outreach efforts to develop, manage, and nurture a pipeline of potential M&A targets
Qualifications
- Related Bachelor's degree required in business, finance, or a related academic discipline or additional related work experience
- 8+ years’ related work experience including professional experience in private equity, venture capital, strategy or corporate venture capital/development
- Startup experience required
- Education experience is a plus
- Consulting experience with strategy orientation and financial analysis is a plus
- Strong financial analysis and critical thinking skills
- Ability to interpret and facilitate legal documentation related to fund investments and management
- Strong interpersonal, relationship and collaboration skills
- Specific experience collaborating with business unit leaders and assessing solutions to fill gaps
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Ability to work autonomously and lead strategic conversations both internally and externally
- Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate complex concepts to executives both verbally and in writing
- Proven project management skills
