Our Software Engineers came from Palantir, Google, Meta, AWS, Harvard, Stanford, and MIT. Our Legal Engineers are from Harvard Law, Stanford Law, Yale Law, Sullivan & Cromwell, Simpson Thacher, Davis Polk, Greenberg Traurig, the SEC, and FINRA.

We have raised $85 million over the past 18 months from top VCs and global institutions, including Vanguard, Blackstone, Bain Capital, Coatue, Craft Ventures, New York Life, Citi, TIAA, and Marc Benioff.

This Role

We’re looking for a People Operations Manager to build and scale our people infrastructure as Norm continues its rapid growth. You’ll be the first dedicated HR hire, responsible for owning and evolving the employee experience from onboarding to offboarding, while laying the foundation for our policies, systems, and programs.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to balance high-impact, hands-on work with opportunities to help shape a People function from the ground up. You’ll partner closely with Talent, Founders, and team leads to support a world-class team across Legal Engineering, Software Engineering, Go-To-Market, and Operations.

  • Own core people operations functions including onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, offboarding, and HRIS management.

  • Develop and implement employee policies and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Support employee relations and be a trusted resource for day-to-day HR questions and issues.

  • Build scalable processes for performance reviews, compensation planning, leave management, and culture initiatives.

  • Partner with Talent to deliver a seamless and supportive candidate-to-employee experience.

  • Roll out people programs around engagement, development, and recognition.

  • Ensure accurate and timely employee data, reporting, and documentation.

  • Manage relationships with HR vendors (e.g., PEO, benefits brokers, HRIS platforms).

Skills & Experience – Core

  • 5+ years of progressive HR or People Ops experience, ideally in high-growth environments.

  • Strong working knowledge of core HR areas: onboarding, compliance, benefits, employee relations, and policy creation.

  • Track record of building or improving people processes from scratch.

  • Excellent judgment and discretion; able to navigate ambiguity with clarity and empathy.

Skills & Experience – Pluses

  • Experience working with or managing a PEO (e.g. Justworks, Rippling, Sequoia).

  • Familiarity with common HR systems (HRIS, performance management tools, etc.).

  • Experience at an early-stage startup.

Comp and Benefits

$120,000 - $180,000 a year plus equity.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes a 401(k) plan with an employer match. Employees enjoy top-tier insurance coverage, encompassing health, dental, hospital, accident, and vision plans. For candidates needing to relocate to NYC, we provide relocation reimbursement. You'll thrive in our fast-paced learning environment where professional growth is constant.

We embrace a flexible hybrid model, typically in-office 3–4 days per week.
