The Role

Pearl is seeking a Lead Dental AI Specialist to lead the clinical data, annotation, adjudication, and validation work behind our AI products. This is a hands-on role for a clinician who can work across dentistry, computer vision, data quality, FDA validation, and product development.

You will manage clinical reviewers, define labeling protocols, adjudicate difficult cases, identify model failure modes, and partner with AI, product, regulatory, sales, and customer success teams to move critical work forward.This is not an advisory role. We need someone meticulous, accountable, driven, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

What You'll Do

  • Translate AI/model needs into clear clinical labeling protocols and quality standards.

  • Build, train, calibrate, and manage contract clinical reviewers.

  • Own annotation quality control, including calibration, error tracking, retraining, and reviewer performance.

  • Adjudicate complex cases and establish reliable ground truth for training, testing, and validation.

  • Review model output to identify failure modes, edge cases, and data quality issues.

  • Partner with AI and data teams on dataset strategy, model behavior, and evaluation.

  • Support FDA validation work, including protocol input, evidence review, and submission support.

  • Provide clinical input to product, design, and engineering teams.

  • Support customer-facing teams when clinical AI expertise is needed.

  • Take on urgent or ambiguous clinical AI needs and drive them to completion.

Qualifications

  • DDS or DMD from a U.S. dental school.

  • 5+ years of chairside clinical experience.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and a high bar for clinical accuracy.

  • Strong clinical judgment and comfort reviewing radiographs, annotations, and ambiguous clinical cases.

  • Comfort working closely with technical teams and engaging substantively on model behavior, datasets, and evaluation outputs.

  • Highly driven, resourceful, and execution-oriented. This is a role for someone who takes ownership, pushes through ambiguity, and does whatever it takes to get high-quality work done.

  • Eager to learn new domains, work across teams, and take on unfamiliar challenges without waiting for perfect instructions.

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and the work requires urgency, initiative, and persistence.

  • U.S.-based.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current dental license.

  • GPR, AEGD or similar residency

  • Experience with AI, computer vision, clinical data labeling, annotation, adjudication, or model validation.

  • Experience training or managing clinicians, contractors, reviewers, or clinical QA teams.

  • Exposure to FDA clinical trials, study protocols, or regulatory evidence generation.

At Pearl, base pay is one part of your total compensation package. The expected base salary range for this role is $130,000.00–$150,000.00, based on the level at which the position is scoped. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. This role is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.
