Senior Engineering Manager

To meet the growing demands and scale of the enterprise market, we're adapting our product to improve our customers' overall experience — from performance and functionality to permissions and governance.

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Engineering Manager with enterprise SaaS expertise to lead our Permissions team, driving authentication and authorization in our platform. We utilise the Oso authorization service, so experience here is useful.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and grow a team of engineers in their daily tasks, personal development, and long-term career growth.
  • Provide deep technical expertise and lead the technical strategy of your area of ownership.
  • Shape processes and technical direction across the engineering department by contributing to efforts that cut across teams and projects.
  • Improve the quality of shared engineering processes such as hiring, planning, and operations.
  • Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Product and Design, as well as with Customer Support, Customer Success, Security, Data, Product Marketing, and other departments.

Given the highly collaborative nature of the team's work across all EPD teams, strong interpersonal skills are crucial.

On a typical day, you will …

  • Work with your Product Manager and Designer to align on the most valuable work to be done
  • Provide clarity to your team about their objectives, aligned with the company goals
  • Provide clarity in their execution model, optimizing for your team to be in the flow, getting rid of blockers, identifying risks in advance
  • Collaborate with other Engineering managers to optimize inter-dependencies
  • Work closely with senior ICs and other EMs on the technical strategy, ensuring your team can contribute to the greater good of the organization
  • Identify and drive technical initiative that contribute to ProductBoard Technical objectives.
  • Proactively manage technical debt. Creating some when needed, paying it back as a flow
  • Hire, onboard, mentor and coach your engineers, guiding their career development.
  • Collaborate with other leader to optimize our capacity to execute. By optimizing processes in the most leaner way possible.
  • Build connection with other part of the business
  • Make the success of your team visible and create a sense of pride for the achievement done
  • Actively drive the hiring process, with support from TA to ensure your team is well-staffed.

About you

  • 4+ years in team management, able to grow and improve both the individuals and the team as a whole
  • A strong technical background. Our managers not only focus on people, but they care and drive the technical roadmap of their respective domain.
  • A proven track record of execution, driving initiatives in cross-functional context
  • You value direct feedback, both given and received. We embrace the approach of Radical Candor. Always with good intent, always constructive.
  • Great communication is expected. Fluency in English—our team consists of 14+ nationalities in different Geo.
  • An experience building complex B2B SaaS admin experiences is a plus
