The Repayment UX Engineering team is growing and looking for a Junior Software Engineer who’s open to specialize in Backend development. We’re a full-stack engineering team located entirely in Poland. We build and own user flows that enable our consumers to repay loans worth over $10B each year. We continuously innovate to make the flow more user-friendly, more effective, and adapt to the needs of our rapidly expanding business. Our work is agile and fast-paced, shipping new code to production almost every two-week sprint, and rigorously measuring the impact it has on the behavior of our users.

What you’ll do

  • Contribute to the implementation of large scale and low latency services, elegant abstractions, shareable libraries, and robust APIs.
  • Gain insight into the design that guides implementation decisions by being part of the design discussions.
  • Partner with other engineers to develop reliable and scalable solutions to a wide range of problems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners like product managers, designers and analysts to deliver an outstanding, high quality experience to our users. The vast majority of people you’ll interact with day to day are located in a compatible timezone.
  • Review others’ work, provide reinforcing and constructive feedback, while learning about the best practices that our high quality standards are based on.
  • Write high-quality code that can be easily understood and leveraged by others.
  • Rigorously test the code we write as a team and support it as part of a sustainable on-call rotation.
  • Take active part in improving our processes, flow of information and work culture.

What we look for

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work / training / open source experience
  • Knowledge of backend languages, tooling and design patterns is a plus (e.g: Python, Flask, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Airflow, REST, RPC, or others)
  • Humility and self-awareness to understand and navigate the unknown (ambiguous problems, unfamiliar technologies)
  • Prior experience collaborating with a team. Experience leading initiatives is a plus
  • Well-developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills in English

Compensation & Benefits

We offer a competitive package, with some highlights listed below. However, the given figures are not guaranteed compensation ranges; rather, they are unbinding, approximate indications of what the salary may be for your awareness. The actual salary may be less than the lower range or greater than the upper range, depending on skills and experience. No employee is guaranteed salary at the amount of the lower range.

  • Targeted Gross Monthly Salary: 16,433 - 20,125 PLN

Pay Grade - POL28

Employees new to Affirm or promoted into a new role, typically begin in the min to mid range.

POL base pay range per year:

Min: 197,200 zł
Mid: 241,500 zł
Max: 285,900 zł

Location - Remote Poland

The majority of our roles can be located anywhere in Poland.
