We are looking for a strategy & operations manager who is obsessed with food, and is excited to combine their culinary knowledge (or hobby) with their executional and operational prowess.
Your role will be on a small team with ownership of supply acquisition, onboarding, and management. It’s an exciting role for an individual who is execution-focused, analytically-minded, and loves and understands food. The Bay Area team works out of the SF office (Embarcadero) 3 days per week.

Your Responsibilities

  • Most importantly: identify, acquire, onboard, and support target shefs -- you'll work hand-in-hand with new shefs, introducing them to Shef, bringing them onto the platform, and helping them succeed
  • Build and roll out processes and playbooks designed to scale up supply-building efforts
  • Facilitate and improve taste testing evaluations to maintain quality bar and filter for high quality newly onboarded shefs
  • Shape existing supply by coaching and guiding shefs on menu and dish creation (including dish naming, recipe adjustments, menu curation, recipe scaling, etc)
  • Manage top shef relationships on an ongoing basis, providing strategic guidance and support
  • In partnership with the supply team, define target dishes, menus, cuisines, and categories for the platform on an ongoing basis - iterating based on consumer research and feedback
  • Merchandise and curate supply on the platform
  • Manipulate data in Google Sheets to evaluate supply, draw insights, plan actions, and execute

What You Bring To The Role

  • Most importantly: culinary expertise or experience, with the language, knowledge, and creativity to work with shefs on crafting menus full of target dishes
  • 3+ years of experience in food, account management, strategy, sales, operations, or similar
  • Bachelor's degree in any of the following fields, or similar: culinary arts, food science, business, engineering, statistics, economics
  • Ability to manage sales-like funnel in order to identify and recruit potential shefs
  • Strong sense of empathy and ability to communicate and account manage shefs
  • Keen sense of ownership, where no task is too small or out of your purview
  • Capacity to take initiative in an evolving work environment while maintaining flexibility and a collaborative attitude and getting things done!
  • Data-driven decision-making mentality and sound business judgment through strong analytical thinking
  • Eagerness to find innovative solutions to the complex problems we're solving at Shef. You balance empathy, logic, and commercial reasoning to make decisions that benefit our shef community and overall operation
