PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR (AVIONICS TEST LAB)

As a Production Supervisor, you will ensure that SpaceX manufactures quality products, on time, every time. You will be responsible for developing a team capable of achieving a level of throughput and quality that goes beyond the boundaries of “industry standard”. You will help to develop, refine, and execute shop floor processes and product related functions as well as supervise all functions of the Space Simulation Test Team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide clarity, direction, and motivation to a staff of up to 20 technicians
  • Interface with area leadership and prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals
  • Supervise shop floor activity, including daily schedules and workflow
  • Proactively identify schedule risk, plan mitigation and coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions
  • Coordinate across teams to balance R&D support and production support in the Test Lab
  • Collect, analyze, and improve departmental metrics related to manufacturing objectives
  • Lead and manage projects which drive down the cost of avionics, increase productivity, and improve Test Lab processes and labor efficiency Effectively manage, coach, assess, and mentor technicians, including writing bi-annual reviews and managing corrective or disciplinary actions
  • Monitor labor hours and overtime, work to implement time management improvement plans with staff
  • Initiate and foster a spirit of cooperation within and between departments
  • Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and continuous improvement
  • Provide constructive feedback to engineering/design community on manufacturing processes and work instructions
  • Identify training needs and develop training programs for your team
  • Establish and analyze area metrics for trend extrapolation to drive the following:
    • Personnel training and development
    • Development and implementation of efficiency improvement projects
    • Optimization of product flow through the factory
    • Root cause analysis and the implementation of corresponding corrective action plans
    • Identification and elimination of defects within the area value stream

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of professional experience in a manufacturing and/or testing environment
  • 1+ years in a leadership position or leading a team

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience leading successful teams in rapidly changing, fast paced environmentsLean manufacturing training and experience
  • Experience monitoring, tracking and continually improving cost and labor
  • Demonstrated ability to read, interpret controlled documentation and processes such as: assembly procedures/work instructions, schematics, engineering drawings, and parts lists
  • Experience working in testing, electronics, and/or avionics
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturability, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and/or failure mode effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:
Production Supervisor: $105,000.00 - $135,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
