SR. MANAGER, TAX (AFRICA)

SpaceX is seeking to add a Senior Tax Manager as it expands its Starlink business across Africa and other regions around the world. The Senior Manager, Tax (Africa) will be part of the international tax team located in Hawthorne and will be responsible for overseeing local country tax matters for the Africa region.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure that Starlink’s operations in the Africa region, as well as any new countries in Africa, are compliant with local tax requirements, including income tax, withholding tax, excise tax, VAT and e-invoicing requirements
• Provide technical tax analysis in regard to the tax implications of existing and new markets across Africa
• Collaborate and partner with cross functional teams (operations, commercial, legal, customs, treasury, accounting, finance) and other stakeholders in order to build a strong networking across these departments and with external resources to ensure compliance with local legislation
• Oversee all tax payments for the Africa region, including monitoring payment dates, calculating correct payment amounts, and ensuring payments are properly recorded in the books
• Assist with notices/audits received from various taxing authorities
• Assist with preparation of tax provision in local financial statements
• Assist with US tax team on US tax implications of Starlink operations in the Africa region
• Provide support as needed on ad hoc projects

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting or tax
• 10+ years of combined tax experience in public accounting, law firm and/or large multinational with operations in Africa
• Prior experience dealing with Africa indirect and direct tax

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Prior Big 4 experience in Africa region or desk
• Prior experience dealing with e-invoicing environment
• Data analytics skills, knowledge of Onesource, Alteryx, SQL.
• Detail oriented, organized, and efficient in work processes
• Ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as well as independently

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• This position is based in Hawthorne, CA and requires being onsite - remote work not considered
• Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

Pay range:

Sr. Manager: $160,000.00 - $205,000.00/per year

Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
