About The Role

We’re looking for a senior backend engineer with an infrastructure sense to join our Platform team as a contractor. This is a high-impact role for someone who thrives at the intersection of backend systems and infrastructure—comfortable designing APIs or optimizing SQL queries one day, tuning Docker workflows or CI pipelines the next. Our team is responsible for the architecture, scalability, and resilience of the systems that power all of engineering. You’ll take ownership of critical platform capabilities - security, performance, observability, developer experience - and help evolve our architecture as the company scales. We value engineers who combine technical depth with curiosity, care deeply about quality, and take pride in solving hard problems end to end. What You’ll Do

• Design and implement scalable backend systems that enhance reliability, performance, and security—working across a polyglot stack (Kotlin, Ruby, Node.js).
• Improve and maintain platform infrastructure, including CI/CD pipelines, observability, container orchestration, and secure deployment patterns.
• Partner with engineering teams to provide architectural guidance, close security and reliability gaps, and raise the bar for operational excellence.
• Take ownership of high-impact, cross-cutting initiatives from exploration through delivery—building solutions that scale and empower the broader engineering org.
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• 7+ years of experience in backend development with Ruby, Kotlin or Node.js
• Strong technical depth in backend systems and infrastructure.
• Experience with designing APIs and optimizing SQL queries.
• Proficiency in tuning Docker workflows and CI pipelines.
• Ability to take ownership of critical platform capabilities such as security and performance.
• Curiosity and a deep care for quality in solving complex problems.
