About The Role

Talent Systems, LLC is the leading technology solution provider for casting and auditioning to the entertainment industry. Casting directors and agents worldwide use Talent Systems’ portfolio of products to source and manage talent across film, television, commercials, theater and digital projects, powering an unparalleled, global casting software ecosystem. We are headquartered in Los Angeles and operate in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and India. Our portfolio brands include Casting Networks, Spotlight, Cast It Systems, Cast It Talent, Casting Frontier, Staff Me Up, Cast It Reach & Tagmin. We are looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer, Platform with a strong focus on building technical platforms that are going to be used by many applications. You will be part of a high functioning team that builds the foundation every product engineer at the company stands on. You'll work on internal libraries, shared services (think Asset service, auth, gateways), our CI/CD, and the observability that keeps production legible. This isn't a "tickets-in, tickets-out" role. The platform team picks its own battles, owns its roadmap, and is measured by how much faster and safer the rest of engineering can ship because of us. You will be responsible for creating high-quality, and scalable tech platforms for our cloud-based SaaS applications, leveraging modern technologies like TypeScript, Node.js, NestJS, Kubernetes, Terraform, GitHub Actions, and AWS. In this role, you’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams across the world to deliver features with urgency and excellence, ensuring an exceptional experience for our users.

What You’ll Do

● Shared libraries and SDKs: critical areas such as auth, logging, config, gRPC clients, error handling. ● Shared backend services like our Asset service and other internal APIs. ● Developer experience: Service templates, scaffolds, local-dev tooling. ● CI/CD on GitHub Actions: fast, reliable, secure-by-default. ● Observability stack: Metrics, logs, traces, dashboards, alerts. ● Support other product teams: Pair on tricky bugs, unblock integrations, review designs. ● On-call on rotation, attend to emergencies.

What You’ll Bring

● Required: ○ 5+ years building backend services in TypeScript / Node.js, ideally with NestJS in production. Additionally, total backend / platform experience, with a track record of owning systems end-to-end in production for L3. ○ Deep software fundamentals that let you wield AI tooling well — you reason about CPU, memory, I/O, concurrency, and bottlenecks, so when you use Claude Code / Cursor / Copilot to write, debug, or review, you can tell good output from confidently-wrong output and steer it accordingly. ○ Postgres performance tuning — query plans, indexing strategy, dealing with hot tables and slow migrations. ○ Hands-on experience with AWS services in the context of frontend development. ○ Designed and built CI/CD strategy, not just edited it — release flow, artifact promotion, security posture. ○ Built observability from zero — defined SLIs/SLOs, designed dashboards and alerts that survive contact with real incidents. ○ Comfortable being the technical voice in cross-team discussions; you mentor more junior engineers and lift the bar without being asked. ○ PostgreSQL working knowledge — schema design, migrations, basic query analysis. ○ Familiarity with the AWS stack we use: DynamoDB, SQS, Kinesis, Lambda. ○ Comfortable working inside CI/CD pipelines — adding steps, debugging failures, understanding promotion flow. ○ Comfortable inside a modern observability stack (Prometheus / Grafana / OpenTelemetry / Datadog or similar) — instrumenting services, reading dashboards, writing useful logs and metrics. ○ Willing to learn — platform surface is broad and shifts constantly; you pick up new tools, languages, and domains without waiting to be told. ● Soft skills: ○ Strong sense of ownership. ○ Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams from different cultures and geolocations. ○ Strong sense of urgency and ability to deliver results in a fast-paced environment. ○ Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality. ○ Excellent problem-solving skills and a customer-first mindset. ○ Experience in working with team members across multiple time zones (GMT, IST, PST)
