We are a mission-driven veterinary fintech startup dedicated to transforming how pets, pet parents, and veterinarians manage the financial side of care. We are building a next-generation platform that simplifies veterinary care financing and payments. We are looking for a Senior Systems Architect and Full-Stack Engineer to serve as our primary technical driver. This is a high-velocity, "team of one" role where you will leverage modern AI-assisted development toolchains (e.g., Cursor, Claude, v0, Lovable) to handle rapid front-end generation and boilerplate development, freeing your focus to design, integrate, and protect core financial systems. The immediate phase is a greenfield development sprint focused on complex API and Model Context Protocol (MCP) orchestrations with multiple banking, lending, and payment infrastructure partners. A secondary phase down the line will involve reverse-engineering legacy system components.

•Financial Infrastructure Design: Architect and implement secure, fault-tolerant backend architectures capable of managing complex ledger states, multi-party transactional flows, and robust error recoveries. •Deep FinTech Integrations: Connect and orchestrate foundational embedded finance infrastructure, explicitly utilizing: •PayFac-as-a-Service (PayFacaaS) models for seamless clinic onboarding and payment aggregation. •Card Issuing rails for real-time disbursement. •Point-of-Sale (POS) Lending mechanisms and multi-lender waterfall APIs to help pet parents split care costs instantly. •Agentic AI Plumbing: Build, deploy, and maintain custom MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers and gateways to bridge our internal business logic and external financial APIs with LLM orchestration layers securely (handling tool call schemas via JSON-RPC 2.0). •AI-Driven Full-Stack Execution: Utilize an "AI-first" developer mindset to spin up beautiful, highly responsive, and reliable clinic/consumer frontends (React, Tailwind, etc.) using automated tools, ensuring you maintain a 10x delivery pace. •State & Security Governance: Ensure absolute correctness regarding database state management, financial transaction logging, idempotency key enforcement, and secure webhook ingestion.

FinTech Domain Expertise (Non-Negotiable) •Minimum 5+ years of direct experience building payment systems, core banking integrations, embedded lending products, or working directly with payment facilitators (PayFacs). •Deep understanding of the mechanics of sub-merchant onboarding, ledger synchronization, settlement cycles, and asynchronous payment state flows. •Battle-tested knowledge of webhooks, handling transient network dropouts, and writing rigorous idempotency logic to prevent double-charging or duplicate loan originations. Insurance & Claims Domain Knowledge (Highly Valued Plus) •Strong Preference: Experience or deep structural knowledge within the insurance tech (InsurTech) ecosystem. •Familiarity with the mechanics of claims management, claim adjudication data models, and automated claims payments/reimbursements is a massive advantage, given our long-term trajectory. AI-Native Workflow Mastery •Fluency with modern AI-augmented IDEs and canvas tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code, v0, Lovable, GitHub Copilot). •Proven ability to treat AI as an extraction layer—using it to write high-quality test coverage, spin up consumer frontends, and generate standard APIs, while your personal cognitive load stays on architecture and validation. Protocol & Database Proficiency •Expertise in designing RESTful APIs and working heavily with asynchronous payload structures. •Hands-on experience or solid understanding of Model Context Protocol (MCP) implementations (exposing corporate datasets and financial APIs safely to AI agents via secure JSON-RPC 2.0 primitives). •Strong mastery of relational database structures (PostgreSQL, SQL Server) and data layer optimization. Comfortable conceptualizing how to eventually decouple and transition legacy data structures into modern API surfaces.
