Alt is a fintech company focused on increasing transparency and liquidity of alternative assets.They’ve made investing in alternative assets easier by creating a marketplace where you can sell, buy, and invest in collectable cards.

The major premise behind our business is that investors are looking for ways to diversify their investments from the S&P and to participate in asset classes known for building wealth. We were excited to kick this off with trading cards, which fits both criteria, and is growing rapidly as an industry.

About The Role

At ALT, we envision a world where anything is an investable asset. Using trading cards, we’re establishing a proof of concept to create financial products that traditional financial institutions don’t support or recognize as collateral. To date, we’ve raised over $100 million from thought leaders at the intersection of culture, community, and capital. Some of our investors include Alexis Ohanian’s fund Seven Seven Six, the founders of Stripe, Coinbase co-founder Fred Ehrsam, BlackRock co-founder Sue Wagner, the co-founders of AngelList, First Round Capital, and BoxGroup. We’re also backed by professional athletes including Tom Brady, Candace Parker, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Alex Morgan, Kevin Durant, and Marlon Humphrey.

In this role, you'll get to opportunity to leverage your technical expertise, leadership, and problem solving skills to solve some of hardest data problems in the hobby. Our ideal candidate has a deep understanding of building backend systems, a strong sense of ownership, and enjoys challenges. At Alt, data is core to everything we do and is a differentiator for our customers.

What You’ll Do

The team’s scope covers data pipeline development, search infrastructure, web scraping, and data quality. As we continue growing, we’re looking to make a number of substantial improvements to our systems including scale & reliability, expanding to more data sources, and improving the latency of our data. We give our engineers a lot of individual responsibility and autonomy, so your ability to make good trade-offs and exercise good judgment is essential.

What You’ll Bring

• 3+ years of software development experience, preferably in a high growth startup environment
• Ability to turn business and product ideas into engineering solutions
• You’re an excellent problem solver with strong ownership, and can ship solutions fast
• Excellent product instincts. You always think about the end user before making technical decisions
• Experience programming in Python, Airflow, Datadog, Graphql, Postgres, AWS or similar technologies
• Experience working on data pipelines or a strong interest in learning
• You're a team player that finds ways to make the people around you better
• Knowledge of the Hobby (trading card industry) is a plus
