About Dispatch

Dispatch is a data orchestration company focused on syncing data across an advisor's tech stack. We make it easy to automate onboarding, open accounts and maintain client data across separate software systems.

About The Role

The financial advisory industry is a $80T market in the US, but has seen little technological innovation compared to the self-service market (Robinhood, Betterment, Wealthfront, SoFi). Client data management is a universally painful and expensive problem for financial advisors. Today, advisors manually collect, update, utilize client data across the 7-10 software tools that they use to run their business. Data transcription and translation across systems is time-consuming and error-prone, leading to costly inefficiencies and embarrassing client-facing problems. Managing data access control, audit logs, and compliance is a constant challenge, particularly in larger organizations. Dispatch helps financial advisors manage their client data. We are wealth tech’s first data orchestration company – we collect, sync and maintain data across the advisory tech stack. Our platform orchestrates complex data workflows like automated onboarding, account opening and data syncing. We give advisors the power of an integrated tech stack with the choice to use whatever tools are best to run their business. We’re an experienced team of start-up operators with deep roots in both tech and advisory. You can learn more about us on our website. We’re looking for an experienced backend engineer who can help lead the development of our early product. You'll build the engineering culture from the ground up, take end-to-end ownership over the features that you build, and heavily influence the product roadmap and architecture decisions.

What You’ll Do

Why work at Dispatch?

  • We’re a highly experienced team with a track record of successfully building together. We’re well versed in building for the best tech companies and asset managers. We move fast, iterate quickly and have a high bar for what “excellent” looks like.
  • We’re a well-funded company backed by top tier investors.
  • We’re distributed in New York and San Francisco, and take great care to foster a highly communicative, collaborative working environment. Responsibilities:
  • Lead the build-out of our V1 product across the core B2B product, integrations/external API, and platform.
  • Collaborate with our tight team to set the technical vision and product roadmap.
  • Make key decisions about technical stack and architecture.
  • Ensure that backend systems and services operate smoothly in production by triaging and resolving operational issues.
  • Help hire and mentor other engineers.

What You’ll Bring

Requirements:

  • Strong track record of shipping high-quality systems with high complexity and scale.
  • Experience building high quality, delightful user-facing web applications.
  • Experience working closely with a cross-functional product team.
  • Bias towards action and ownership – when you see a problem, you fix it.
  • Customer-centric – you are focused on creating the best customer experience possible.
  • Desire to work in an early stage, fast-paced environment with a high degree of ambiguity.
  • Excited to primarily be an individual contributor with a ton of ownership.
  • 7+ years of engineering experience. You’ll stand out if you have:
  • Fintech industry knowledge and experience.
  • Experience building with leading fintech APIs (Plaid, Stripe, etc).
  • Experience building APIs-as-a-product and/or B2B products.
  • Experience at seed/early-stage startups (eg, being a first-3 engineer at a company).
  • Previously started a company and/or launched personal projects. Tech Stack
  • Golang, SQL, Redis, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, AWS SQS, AWS Step Functions, Amazon S3, AWS Lambda
