About The Role

At Open, we are looking for a Staff Backend Engineer who thrives in both analytical and engineering environments. The main focus of this role is to extend and maintain the backend platform for our iOS and web clients. You will collaborate closely with front-end engineers to deliver features for our consumer-facing apps, ensuring seamless integration and performance.

What You’ll Do

• Lead efforts to turn existing data into meaningful insights that drive business decisions.
• Experience architecting and implementing solutions with Firebase, Node, and Cloud Functions
• Collaborate with the backend team to enhance data tracking and transformation efforts using advanced Javascript/Typescript
• Ensure that data workflows are optimized for accuracy, efficiency, and timely reporting.
• Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and contribute to the continuous improvement of data practices.
  
  

What You’ll Bring

• 5+ years of experience with Node & Firebase, with a heavy focus on backend development
• Proven track record of leading engineering projects and initiatives.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL, with the ability to query, manipulate and optimize large datasets.
• Strong fluency in JavaScript and TypeScript for backend data manipulation.
• Bonus points if you have exposure to Mode, Amplitude, BigQuery, Klaviyo, & Google Analytics
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
