The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Manager to oversee the daily operations of our store and cafe. The ideal candidate will ensure exceptional customer service, manage staff, maintain inventory, and drive sales while fostering a positive and efficient work environment. This role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and a passion for delivering high-quality service in a fast-paced retail setting.

Responsibilities

Store Operations: Oversee all aspects of store operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized store environment.
Team Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise a team of employees, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and professional development.
Customer Service: Ensure exceptional customer experiences by addressing inquiries, resolving complaints, and maintaining high standards of service.
Inventory Control: Monitor stock levels, coordinate with suppliers, manage ordering and receiving, and minimize waste through effective inventory management.
Sales and Profitability: Develop and implement strategies to meet sales targets, control costs, and maximize profitability while maintaining product quality.
Merchandising: Oversee product displays, promotions, and pricing to enhance the shopping experience and drive sales.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with health, safety, and food handling regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
Financial Management: Prepare budgets, monitor expenses, and analyze financial reports to ensure the store meets performance goals.
Community Engagement: Build relationships with local customers and participate in community events to enhance the store’s reputation and customer loyalty.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in business, retail management, or related field preferred.
[3-5] years of experience in retail management, preferably in a grocery or supermarket setting.
Proven leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff.
Strong understanding of inventory management, merchandising, and financial reporting.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Proficiency in POS systems, Microsoft Office, and inventory management software.
Knowledge of food safety regulations and compliance standards.

Additional Requirements

Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted
Ability to stoop, bend, and crawl.
Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
