The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
We’re looking for an Human Resources Generalist who can wear multiple hats and thrive in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. This role will support a wide range of HR functions - from onboarding and employee relations to benefits administration and compliance. You’ll work directly with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams to build scalable processes, resolve issues quickly, and help keep our tunneling and engineering operations running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for day-to-day HR questions and employee support
- Own and improve core HR processes including onboarding, offboarding, benefits, and leave management
- Support managers and employees with performance feedback cycles, employee relations, and policy interpretation
- Ensure HR compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Maintain HR systems and records with accuracy and confidentiality
- Assist with company-wide initiatives like engagement surveys, training programs, and organizational planning
- Help scale HR operations to match the pace of growth across field and HQ teams
Qualifications:
- 2–5 years of HR experience in a generalist or people ops role, preferably in a fast-paced or industrial environment
- Working knowledge of employment law, benefits administration, and HR best practices
- Excellent communication skills and ability to navigate sensitive conversations with professionalism and discretion
- Proficient with HRIS tools and Google Workspace
- Comfortable supporting both field teams (e.g., construction, operations) and corporate staff
