Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Prep Cook to join our team at Boring Bodega, a vibrant community hub. In this role, you will focus on preparing fresh, high-quality items for our growing to-go food section during early morning hours. You’ll help ensure our customers have convenient, delicious grab-and-go options while maintaining a clean, efficient, and welcoming food service environment. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on kitchen work, takes pride in food presentation, and can accomplish work independently.
Requirements:
- Prepare and portion fresh to-go food items daily, including sandwiches, salads, wraps, protein boxes, snacks, sides, and other grab-and-go offerings.
- Follow standardized recipes, portion control guidelines, and food safety protocols (FIFO rotation, proper labeling, temperature control).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the prep kitchen, to-go food area, refrigeration units, and workstations.
- Stock and replenish the to-go food display area at the end of the shift.
- Assist with food inventory checks to help maintain health standards while minimizing waste.
- Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure smooth service and respond quickly to customer needs.
- Uphold high standards for food quality, safety, and presentation in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Support occasional special events or community activities by preparing larger batches or themed items.
- Perform end-of-shift cleaning and closing duties for the food prep area.
- Deep cleaning responsibilities inside of the kitchen.
Basic Qualifications
- Previous experience in food preparation, kitchen, or deli roles preferred (restaurant, cafe, or grocery store experience is a plus).
- Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices (ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain one is a plus).
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a team-player mindset.
- Availability for early morning shifts: 4:30 AM – 9:30 AM (approximately 5 shifts per week to reach 20 hours).
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 40 lbs, and work in a kitchen setting with refrigeration and heat.
- Must be at least 18 years old and eligible to work in the United States.
