The Billing Lead drives the execution and continuous improvement of Vanta’s billing processes while leading projects that enhance scalability, accuracy, and efficiency across the order-to-cash lifecycle. This role partners closely with Finance, Revenue Operations, Business Systems, and Customer Experience to implement operational improvements that support growth, compliance, and customer trust.
You’ll oversee key billing initiatives, manage complex escalations, and design processes that strengthen Vanta’s billing infrastructure. What you’ll do as a Billing Lead at Vanta:
Lead cross-functional billing projects that enhance process efficiency, data integrity, and system scalability across the order-to-cash function.
Design and implement improvements to billing workflows, documentation, and controls to support audit readiness and compliance with GAAP and SOX standards.
Partner with Finance, RevOps, and Business Systems on system enhancement initiatives, including automation, integrations, and ERP optimizations (e.g., NetSuite, Salesforce, Stripe).
Drive month-end and quarter-end readiness projects, coordinating across teams to reduce errors and accelerate close timelines.
Analyze and communicate billing performance metrics, surfacing trends and opportunities for process optimization.
Document and maintain billing SOPs and project artifacts, ensuring consistent execution and scalable growth.
Mentor and support billing specialists by guiding project workstreams, sharing best practices, and fostering a culture of operational excellence.
How to be successful in this role:
4–6 years of experience in billing operations, finance operations, or order-to-cash functions, ideally within a SaaS, usage, or subscription-based business.
Proven success leading or contributing to cross-functional projects that improve billing accuracy, automation, or compliance.
Strong understanding of ERP, CRM, and billing tools (NetSuite, Salesforce, Stripe, Intercom, Metronome, Orb)
Familiarity with revenue recognition (ASC 606) and SOX compliance.
Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills (pivot tables, lookups, error analysis).
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with a track record of driving alignment across Finance, RevOps, and Engineering or Systems teams.
A proactive, project-oriented mindset with the ability to prioritize, execute, and adapt in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
