About the Role
As a Growth Engineer at Voiceflow, you'll play a critical role in leveraging technical expertise to drive growth and optimize user acquisition and activation. Working closely with our Growth team, you'll use your engineering skills to develop and implement strategies that enhance user acquisition, engagement, and retention. This role combines technical acumen with a deep understanding of growth, requiring you to translate data insights into actionable improvements and innovations.
What You’ll Contribute:
Growth Strategy and Execution:
- Collaborate with the Growth team to define and execute growth strategies, focusing on user acquisition, retention, and engagement.
- Develop and implement tools, processes, and systems that enhance Growth effectiveness and streamline user onboarding within the Voiceflow product, helping them get to value and production adoption faster.
- Use data-driven approaches to identify growth opportunities and optimize Growth campaigns.
Technical Leadership:
- Provide technical guidance and expertise in building and maintaining systems that support Growth initiatives, both within Voiceflow’s platform and in supporting Growth systems.
- Lead the development of features and integrations that enhance Growth automation, personalization, and analytics.
- Mentor and collaborate with other engineers to align technical solutions with growth goals.
Data Analysis and Optimization:
- Analyze user behavior, campaign performance, and other key metrics to drive continuous improvement.
- Implement and manage A/B testing frameworks to validate hypotheses and optimize user experiences.
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools to provide insights and track the impact of growth initiatives.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with product managers, marketers, and data analysts to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Ensure seamless integration between Growth platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, HubSpot, Marketo), Voiceflow’s core product and other internal systems.
- Foster a collaborative environment that bridges technical and Growth teams to drive cohesive growth strategies.
Code Quality and Continuous Improvement:
- Conduct code reviews to ensure high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions.
- Implement best practices for performance monitoring, scalability, and security in growth-related systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in growth engineering and Growth technology.
Documentation:
- Create and maintain technical documentation related to growth initiatives, including system architecture, data flows, and integration points.
Qualifications
Experience:
- Several years of proven experience in software development roles with a focus on growth engineering or related disciplines.
- Demonstrated success in implementing and optimizing growth strategies and Growth technology.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in relevant programming languages and tools, including JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
- Experience with data analysis tools and platforms, such as Google Analytics, Mixpanel, or similar.
- Familiarity with Growth automation platforms and CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo).
Growth Marketing Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of growth marketing principles, including user acquisition, retention strategies, and conversion rate optimization.
- Experience with A/B testing, funnel analysis, and user segmentation.
Leadership and Communication:
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Problem-Solving Skills:
- Strong analytical skills with a knack for identifying and solving complex technical and growth-related problems.
Team Collaboration:
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.
Our Process
- Application — All candidates will hear back, either to move ahead and schedule an interview or to let you know we aren't moving ahead. No ghosting!
- Role Screening Call — a 30-minute call to learn more about the role, our company and align on expectations for the role.
- Technical Interview 1 — a 60-minute call with a senior member of the engineering team to talk through technical experience and background, and a series of programming questions.
- Take Home Assignment — a (estimated 3 hour) take home assignment to demonstrate your coding and problem solving skills
- Technical Interview 2 — a 60-minute call with a Senior/Staff engineer and Team Lead from the team to join. A review of the take home assignment and additional technical questions.
- Final Interview - you’ll have the chance to meet with Braden (CEO) to learn more about the future of Voiceflow.
Logistics
- Location — we are located in Toronto and operate on a Hybrid model where our team comes into the office 1-2 days per week.
- Compensation — we expect to be in the 150-200k CAD range for this role, plus benefits, stock options, PTO, etc. We are still small enough that our salary bands are not set in stone, so we will work to make a total comp package that makes sense for the right candidate
